Off specification and recalled product is destroyed with documentation confirming it cannot re enter commerce. Where the product is a commercial chemical on the P or U lists, it carries that listing when discarded regardless of why it failed.

Certified destruction for recalls
For a recall the documentation is usually the point:
- Quantity received, verified against your records
- Lot and batch numbers where applicable
- Method and date of destruction
- Certificate confirming the product cannot re enter commerce
- Witnessed destruction where your protocol requires it
- Chain of custody from your facility to destruction
Where a recall is regulator driven or litigation is possible, witnessed destruction with full lot level documentation is worth arranging in advance rather than reconstructing afterwards.
Depackaging and recovery
Most off specification product arrives in its retail or shipping packaging, and the packaging has to come off before anything else happens. Depackaging separates product from container and lets each take the right route.
Frequently the product itself has recovery value. Solvent based product blends for fuel, alcohol based product distills, and packaging may be recyclable. A recall does not automatically mean everything is destroyed at cost.

Do I get proof of destruction?
Yes, as standard. For recall work the certificate usually matters more than the disposal itself, and it can be issued at lot level where your protocol requires it.
Is off-spec product hazardous waste?
It depends what it is. Off specification commercial chemical products on the P or U lists carry that listing when discarded. Other products are assessed against the characteristics like any other waste.
Can you handle full pallets in retail packaging?
Yes. Depackaging is a normal part of this work. Aerosols in particular need depackaging, and they are handled as a specific stream because of the propellant.
