Spill response and emergency transport
When something has already gone wrong and the waste needs to move now.
Greer provides response and removal for spills, releases and non conforming shipments across its eight state footprint. Response starts with characterization, because what the material is determines how it can be packaged and where it can go.

In order, and the first two happen on the phone:
- Establish what the material is, how much, and whether anyone is at risk
- Confirm whether reporting thresholds are engaged and who has notified whom
- Mobilize equipment matched to the material and the volume
- Contain, package and remove, with characterization supporting the codes
- Manifest and route to a facility permitted for those codes
- Provide the documentation for your file and for any regulator enquiry
If life safety is involved, call 911 first. We are a waste contractor, not an emergency service, and we will say so.
The honest limits
Some incidents belong to the fire service, to a hazmat team, or to explosive ordnance disposal. We will tell you when that is the case rather than accepting work we should not, and we will help you reach the people who should have it.
What we are good at is the part that follows: characterizing what is on the ground, packaging it correctly, and getting it off your site with documentation that holds up.
Common questions
How quickly can you respond?
It depends on where you are and what the material is. Our dispatch is in Mobile and the fleet is ours, so a response is a scheduling decision rather than a subcontracting exercise. Call and you will get a straight answer about timing.
Do I need to report the release?
If it meets a reportable quantity at 40 CFR 302.4, yes, to the National Response Center immediately. State and local requirements frequently go further. Where there is doubt, report.
What about the cleanup material?
Absorbents, PPE and contaminated debris carry the codes of the released material and are manifested with it. That is usually a larger volume than the original spill and it needs its own planning.
